YOUNG people have a chance to organise Redcliffe PCYC youth activities and
participate in the running of the club with the new Youth Management Team (YMT)
The YMT will organise activities of its own and advise PCYC management on what's best for young people at the club. Young adults between the age of 13 and 18 are encouraged to join the youth group, meet regularly, set goals, complete their own youth-related projects and learn how to be a leader in the process.
They can organise or just take part in fun and social activities that will enable young people to interact with peers with similar interests.
Who can be involved?
The youth management team is perfect for teenagers looking to make a difference in other young peoples' lives, take on new challenges, develop skills, have their say in the club's management and have some fun along the way. The target age group is 13 to 18 and young people from all cultures and backgrounds are welcome.
A group member must also be enthusiastic, willing to work hard, co-operate with group members and meet regularly to ensure the group works effectively. The club is looking for about 20 young people to get together but the ideal size is about 10-15.
What will be involved?
The youth team should attend a supervised meeting at least every two weeks at the Redcliffe PCYC in one of the meeting rooms available. At each meeting, the team can discuss the organisation of events such as movie nights, dances, community work and fundraising, as well as youth activities which Redcliffe PCYC can develop.
The Youth Delegate will attend the PCYC management meeting to discuss what has been said at YMT meeting ensuring that the youth have their say.
Youth Management team meetings will take place every 2 weeks at the club. Contact the Reception for details on when the meetings are.
What Activities Will The Youth Group Organise?
The activities are really up to the group to decide, but it can be just about anything that is appropriate and that the youth think they can organise. Some examples of activities at other PCYCs include a dance party, a movie night, a community service, promoting the PCYC through local media or a youth festival.
Basically any activity that will keep young people active, interested and meeting new people is encouraged.
